An Analysis of Inclusive Education Conditions for Students with Special Needs at University of Ostrava

Abstract:

Téma předkládané diplomové práce ?Analýza inkluzivního prostředí na Ostravské univerzitě v Ostravě? koreluje s hlavním cílem práce, ve kterém se snažím reflektovat skutečnost, že inkluzivní prostředí na vysoké škole není obrazem pouze míry bezbariérovosti fyzické a technické, ale zejména sociální a komunikační. Teoretická část je koncipována jako soubor definičních vymezení a popisů pojmů, tykajících se osob se zdravotním postižením, fenoménu integrace a inkluze a zejména pak inkluzivního systému podpory v terciárním vzdělávání. Přechodová kapitola k empirickému úseku práce se zaměřuje na studenty se specifickými vzdělávacími potřebami (SVP) na českých vysokých školách a detailněji pak definuje klíčové aktivity Ostravské univerzity v Ostravě podporující zpřístupnění vysokoškolského vzdělávání studentům s SVP (Centrum podpory studentům se specifickými potřebami ? Pyramida, projektové činnosti, aj.). V praktické části se zaměřuji na zjišťování postojových preferencí zainteresovaných stran k obrazu funkční schopnosti inkluzivního vzdělávání na OU. Jedná se o názory intaktních studentů, studentů se specifickými vzdělávací potřebami a názory akademických pracovníků, kteří bezprostředně realizují podporu studentům s SVP při studiu. Ke sběru dat jsem použila metod kvalitativních (hloubkové rozhovory, metoda ohniskových skupin) i kvantitativních (dotazníky), jednalo se tedy o smíšený typ výzkumu. Při zpracování kvalitativně zjištěných údajů jsem preferovala kódovací strategie, konkrétně pak metodu zakotvené teorie a techniku ?vyložení karet?.

Abstract:

The topic of the thesis "Analysis of an inclusive environment at the University of Ostrava" correlates with the main objective of the work which tries to reflect the fact that while inclusive environment at the university is shown by physical and technical disabled accessibility, it is especially shown by social and communication accessibility. The theoretical part is conceived as a set of definitions and description of terms related to persons with disabilities, the phenomenon of integration and inclusion, and especially inclusion support system in tertiary education. Transition chapter to the empirical section of the thesis focuses on students with special educational needs (SEN) at Czech universities and defines in detail the key activities of the University of Ostrava (OU) supporting access to higher education for students with SEN (Support Center for students with special needs - Pyramid, project activities, etc.). The practical part is focused on identifying attitudinal preferences of stakeholders about the image of the functional capabilities of inclusive education at OU. These are the opinions of intact students, students with special educational needs and opinions of academic staff who immediately implement support for students with SEN in the study. Both qualitative methods (in-depth interviews, focus group method) and quantitative methods (questionnaires) were used for collecting data; this means that a mixed type of research is presented. When processing the collected data qualitatively, coding strategies were preferred, namely the method of grounded theory and "showdown" technique.
