Intergenerational coexistence in the workplace

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce má za cíl zjistit rozdíly mezi čtyřmi generacemi, které se nyní nachází na pracovním trhu. Jsou jimi generace Baby boomers, generace X, generace Y a nejmladší generace Z. Výzkum probíhal ve vybrané firmě, která se zabývá výrobou kancelářského nábytku. K naplnění cíle byla použita kvantitativní metoda, konkrétně dotazníkové šetření. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 50 zaměstnanců dané firmy, z nichž nejvíce z generace Y. Z výzkumu vyplynulo, že lidem ve firmě napříč generacemi chybí jako benefit více dovolené, home-office a sick days. Lidé používají rozdílné formy komunikace, než jejich nadřízení a v práci je motivuje zejména dobrý kolektiv a náplň práce. Na závěr praktické části byly formulovány doporučení pro firmu a jejich manažery, jak s těmito rozdíly pracovat a využít je ke spokojenosti a motivaci zaměstnanců.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to find out the differences between the four generations, which are now on the labor market. These are the Baby Boomers generation, X generation, Y generation, and the youngest generation Z. The research was conducted in a selected company that manufactures office furniture. A quantitative method, namely a questionnaire survey, was used to fulfill the objective. The research was attended by 50 employees of the company, most of them from the Y generation. People use different forms of communication than their superiors and are motivated at work by a good team and job description. At the end of the practical part were formulated recommendations for the company and their managers, how to work with these differences and use them to the satisfaction and motivation of employees.
