Rehabilitation of an adult patient following an uncemented hip arthroplasty operation: a clinical case

Abstract:

The hip joint is known as the coxo-femoral joint and it is considered an enarthrosis that has less mobility than other joints but is among the most stable and therefore is more difficult to dislocate. It is formed by the acetabulum and the head of the femur. This joint is very important because it supports the weight of the body and it is often affected by various diseases. The pathology that affects it most is arthrosis because this joint is exposed to great stress since it has to support the weight of the whole body and it allows us to walk. Osteoarthritis is very frequent in the population and it can lead to serious disabilities because it is a degenerative and chronic disease that affects women after the fifty years, therefore after menopause. Arthrosis is caused by wear and aging and it is characterized by damage to the cartilage within the joint causing severe pain and important deficits. The role of cartilage between joints is of fundamental importance as it can reduce friction between bones. Among the causes of arthrosis, we must distinguish between primary and secondary causes, in the first case there are no other causes that originate it while in the second case the disease is caused by other diseases or traumas or fractures. There is no cure for this pathology, you can only go and intervene on the pain with painkillers and hyaluronic acid infiltrations and with physiotherapy. That's why when a subject is affected by this pathology often he/she decides to go for surgery to reconstruct the hip joint and eliminate the pain.

Abstract:

L'articolazione dell'anca ? conosciuta anche come articolazione coxo-femorale e considerata un'enartrosi che ha meno mobilit? rispetto a altre articolazioni ma ? tra le pi? stabili perci? si lussa pi? difficilmente. ? formata dall'acetabolo e dalla testa del femore. Questa articolazione ? molto importante perch? sostiene il peso del corpo e spesso ? colpita da varie patologie. La patologia che colpisce maggiormente ? l'artrosi, perché ? un'articolazione che ? sottoposta a grande stress in quanto deve sostenere il peso di tutto il corpo e deve consentire la deambulazione. L'artrosi ? molto frequente nella popolazione e pu? comportare gravi disabilit? perché ? una malattia degenerativa e cronica che colpisce maggiormente le donne dopo i cinquanta anni quindi dopo la menopausa. L'artrosi ? causata dall'usura e dall'invecchiamento e ? caratterizzata dal danneggiamento della cartilagine all'interno della articolazione provocando forte dolore e deficit importanti. Il ruolo della cartilagine tra le articolazioni ? di fondamentale importanza in quanto ha la capacit? di ridurre l'attrito tra le ossa. Tra le cause dell'artrosi bisogna distinguerle in primarie e secondarie, nella prima non ci sono cause che la originano mentre per la seconda ? causata da altre malattie o traumi o fratture. Non esiste una cura per questa patologia, ? possibile solo andare a intervenire sul dolore con antidolorifici e infiltrazioni di acido ialuronico e con la fisioterapia. Ecco perch? quando un soggetto ? colpito da questa patologia spesso si arriva a scegliere l'intervento chirurgico per ricostruire l'articolazione dell'anca e eliminare il dolore.
