Collective Unconscious And The Notions of Work With The Elderly

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce se věnuje otázce, jaký je vztah mezi kolektivním nevědomím a představami sociálních pracovníků vybraného domova důchodců o jejich úloze v procesu práce se seniory. V teoretické části jsou konceptualizovány základní teoretické pojmy a východiska. Vztah mezi kolektivním nevědomím a představami sociálních pracovníků je nahlížen optikou tvz. „tavistocké školy“ reprezentující specifický psychosociální přístup ke studiu vnitřního života organizací převážně pomáhajících profesí. Tento koncept se opírá o poznatky moderní psychoanalýzy aplikované na skupiny a instituce a osvětluje vlivy iracionálního chování jedinců a skupin v organizaci, jež mohou ovlivnit jejich fungování i poskytované služby. V metodické části je popsána zvolená kvalitativní výzkumná strategie a odpovídající techniky výzkumu - polostrukturované a hloubkové individuální rozhovory, kolektivní rozhovor s fokusní skupinou. Podpůrnou a doplňující techniku představuje pozorování a analýza dokumentů. Instrumentalizace empirického šetření umožnila sběr dat, jež jsou analyzována v empirické části. Kvalitativní šetření prokázalo souvislost mezi kolektivním nevědomím a představami sociálních pracovníků o jejich úloze v procesu práce se seniory. Pracovníci vybraného DD pociťují kolektivní pocity úzkosti v souvislosti s tématy jako je stáří, obavy z vlastní budoucnosti, bezmoc a smrt. Jako obranu proti tomu pak něvědomky uplatňují víceméně kolektivní strategii založenou na vytěsnění a popírání bolestných pocitů, která se projevuje jako určitá forma protiúkolu s rysy tzv. neuskutečnitelného vlastního zadání.

Abstract:

The presented thesis deals with a question “what is the relation between the collective unconscious and the notions of social workers of the selected old people´s home about their role in the proces of working with the elderly. In the theoretical part are conceptualised the basic theoretical terms such as the concept of the role of a social worker and collective unconscious. The relation between the collective unconscious and the notions of social workers is perceived from the perspective of the so called “Tavistock school” (author´s gathered around the Tavistock Institue), which represents a specific psychosocial approach to a study of the inner life of the organizations concerned with helping professions. This concept is based on the knowledge of the modern psychoanalysis (primarily M. Klein) aplied on groups and institutions that are clarifying the influence of the irrational behaviour of the individuals and groups in the organization, which may influence their function and provided services. In the metodical part are descriped the aplied methods and techniques of the reasearch. The chosen qualitative research strategy is based on the method of understanding, whereto correspond the chosen techniques: semi-structured and individual in-depth interviews, a focus group interview, and furhermore, the observation and analysis of documents. The instumentalization of the empirical examination helped me to obtain the data that I analysed in the empirical part. The qualitative research proved the connection between the collective unconscious and the notions of social workers of their role in the proces of working with the elderly. The social workers of the selected old people´s home experience collective tension and anxiety in connection with such topics like old age, worries about their own future, powerlessness and death are. As a defence against these embarrassing emotions they unconsciously choose more or less collective strategy based on avoidance and denial which appears as a form of anti-task with some characteristics of the self-assigned impossible task.
