Abstract:

VOLF, Jakub. Zmínky o milostné magii a kouzlech u vybraných římských autorů. Brno: Filozofická fakulta Univerzity Masarykovy v Brně, 2016. 312 stran. Magisterská práce. Cílem této práce je vyhledat literární zmínky o milostné magii a doprovodných kouzlech u vybraných římských prozaiků (Apuleia, Petronia) a vybraných římských básníků (Catulla, Tibulla, Propertia, Ovidia, Laevia, Vergilia, Horatia a Lucana). Snaží se najít vzájemné shody a podobnosti s řeckými magickými papyry (PGM) a porovnat je, tj. porovnat jednotlivé literární zmínky s dobovými magickými předpisy, dochovanými PGM, a osvětlit je čtenáři; také se pokusí nastínit, do jaké míry mohl být autor obeznámen s milostnou magií a konkrétními magickými předpisy na milostná kouzla, případně nakolik se uplatňuje pouze autorova fantazie. Nakonec práce rovněž podá charakteristiku jednotlivých literárních zmínek u autora s nástinem, o jaký typ kouzla se může jednat.

References of the love magic and charms in the works of selected Roman authors. Brno: the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno, 2016. 312 pages. Master’s thesis. The aim of this thesis is to locate the literary references about the love magic and accompanying charms in the works of chosen Roman prose writers (Apuleius, Petronius) and selected Roman poets (Catullus, Tibullus, Propertius, Ovidius, Laevius, Vergilius, Horatius and Lucanus). It tends to find mutual correspondences and similarities with the Greek magical papyri (PGM) and to compare them that is to compare singular literary references with the magical prescriptions, conserved PGM, and clarify them to the reader; it tries to outline the measure how much the author would have been acquainted with the love magic and with the real magical prescriptions of love charms, alternatively how much the author had got carried away by his fantasy. This thesis defines the characteristics of any singular literary reference concerning the author with proposition what kind of spell it could be.
