The influence of playing chess on the logical and critical thinking of second grade elementary school students

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce zkoumá vliv šachové hry na logické a kritické myšlení u žáků druhého stupně základních škol. Práce představuje příklady začlenění šachové hry do rámcových vzdělávacích programů a zkoumá proces osvojení klíčových kompetencí při hraní šachu. Zahrnuje analýzu psychologických aspektů spojených s hraním šachu. V teoretické části práce jsou diskutovány výhody a nevýhody šachové hry, implementace didaktických principů ve výuce šachu a genderové rozdíly. Také se věnuje problematice paměti v kontextu šachového světa a spolupráci počítačových programů a umělé inteligence ve výcviku šachu. V empirické části této práce je proveden kvantitativní výzkum s cílem analyzovat vliv šachů na logické a kritické myšlení u žáků druhého stupně základních škol. Hlavní metodou výzkumu je vytvoření didaktického testu obsahujícího logické úlohy, které představují klíčový nástroj pro sběr dat a analýzu v rámci této práce.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis examines the influence of the game of chess on both logical and critical thinking of lower secondary school students. This thesis presents examples of the integration of the game of chess into the Framework Education Programmes and investigates the process of acquiring key competencies while playing chess. Furthermore, it includes an analysis of the psychological aspects associated with playing chess. The theoretical part of this thesis discusses the advantages and disadvantages of chess, the implementation of didactic principles in chess education, and gender differences. It also deals with the issue of memory in the context of the chess world, as well as the cooperation of computer programs and artificial intelligence in chess training. In the empirical part of this thesis, quantitative research is conducted to analyze the effect of chess on logical and critical thinking of lower secondary school students. The main research method is the creation of a didactic test containing logical tasks, which is the key tool for data collection and analysis within this thesis.
