Construction development of Nový Bor in 1960-1989 focused on residential construction

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je tematicky zaměřená na stavební rozvoj Nového Boru v letech 1960-1989. Město Nový Bor se nachází v podhůří Lužických hor v severních Čechách asi 10 km severně od České Lípy. Od doby jeho vzniku, resp. povýšení na město v roce 1757, došla jeho podoba velkých změn. Ty klíčové se však odehrály až v druhé polovině 20. století. Jednotlivé kapitoly se budou postupně zabývat vývojem Nového Boru, ještě jako města Haida, před rokem 1945, otázkami bytového fondu a jeho výstavby v 50., 60., 70. a 80. letech, a s ním spojenou celkovou proměnou vzhledu historického jádra města. Konkrétně pak výstavbou sídlišť a asanací jedné z nejstarších částí města - dnešní hlavní třídy T. G. M. Věnovat se bude také vybudování sklářského kombinátu a rozvoj sklářství ve městě obecně. Dále bude v práci zmíněna i tragická událost požáru evangelického kostela Krista Spasitele z roku 1982. Časovým mezníkem pro ukončení této práce bude rok 1989.

Abstract:

The submitted thesis is focused on the construction development of Nový Bor from 1960 to 1989. The town Nový Bor is located in Lausatian Mountains in Nord Bohemia, about 10 km north from Česká Lípa. Since its foundation in 1757, Nový Bor experienced many changes. The major ones happened in 20th century. The thesis is composed of nine chapters, each of them dealing with different aspects of the construction development of Nový Bor. The aim of chapter one is a brief introduction of the history of Nový Bor before 1945. Chapters 2-6 concentrate on the residential contruction, situation in the town, main problems with housing, the lack of places for living and the redevelopment of the old town, specifically of the important main street. The building of Glass Factory and the general history of its glass industry will also be discussed. The seventh chapter reveals the tragedy of the fire in the Evangelical Church of Christ in 1982. The eight chapter describes a newly founded housing estate called Nová Skalice. The thesis is ended with a piece of information about the situation in the town in 1989.
