Personal values in the relation with parenting styles in emerging adults

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce jsou osobní hodnoty v souvislostech stylů výchovy u vynořujících se dospělých. První kapitola teoretické části charakterizuje období vynořující se dospělosti. Zabývá se vývojem tohoto pojmu, specifiky spojenými s tímto obdobím podle Arnettovy teorie, kritikou tohoto přístupu a na závěr mapuje situaci vynořujících se dospělých v České republice. Druhá kapitola se zabývá typy rodičovských výchovných stylů podle Baumrindové, jejich charakteristikami a konkrétními projevy. Třetí kapitola se zabývá osobními hodnotami podle Schwartzova kruhového modelu. Výzkumná část práce je zaměřena na kvantitativní výzkum, který zkoumá, jak souvisí styly výchovy s osobními hodnotami u lidí ve vynořující se dospělosti a zda se tyto proměnné liší v souvislosti s demografickými charakteristikami. Data byla sesbírána od 98 respondentů pocházejících z České republiky, většinově z Moravskoslezského kraje. Vzorek byl tvořen 76 ženami a 22 muži. Všichni účastníci výzkumu byli ve věku od 18 do 29 let (v průměru 20,97 let). Na základě výsledků provedeného výzkumu bylo zjištěno, že rodičovské styly charakteristické citlivostí jsou pozitivně spojeny s konzervatismem. U dimenzí vyskytujících se u autoritativního rodičovského stylu se prokázaly signifikantní vztahy s konzervatismem, benevolencí a konformitou. Výsledky také ukázaly významné rozdíly mezi jednotlivými skupinami.

Abstract:

The topic of the bachelor thesis is personal values in the relation with parenting styles in emerging adults. The first chapter of the theoretical part characterizes the period of emerging adulthood. It deals with the development of this concept, the specifics associated with this period according to Arnett's theory, criticism of this approach and finally it maps the situation of emerging adults in the Czech Republic. The second chapter deals with the types of parenting styles according to Baumrind, their characteristics and specific manifestations. The third chapter deals with personal values according to Schwartz's circumplex model. The research part of the thesis is focused on quantitative research that examines how parenting styles are related to personal values in emerging adulthood and whether these variables vary with demographic characteristics. Data were collected from 98 respondents from the Czech Republic, mostly from the Moravian-Silesian region. The sample consisted of 76 women and 22 men. All participants were aged between 18 and 29 years (mean age 20.97 years). Based on the results of the performed research was found that parenting styles characterized by sensitivity are positively associated with conservatism. The dimensions occurring in the authoritative parenting style showed significant relationships with conservatism, benevolence and conformity. Results also showed significant differences between the groups.
