Jadrová DNA je uložená vo forme lineárnych chromozómov, ktoré majú na svojich koncoch štruktúry nazývané teloméry. Úloha telomér spočíva v ochrane vlastných koncov chromozómov, aby neboli rozpoznané bunkou ako zlomy DNA a následne vystavené opravným mechanizmom bunky, čo by viedlo k letálnej degenerácii chromozómov. Abstract:
Nuclear DNA is strored in form of linear chromosomes, which have specific structures on ends, called telomeres. Function of telomeres is protection of ends of chromosomes to avoid cell recognition of the ends as break of DNA and followed by repair mechanism of the cell, than would lead to lethal degradation of chromosomes.
