Fictional Features in Alexandre Dumas' Reine Margot: the case of historical figures

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the historical figures of the novel La Reine Margot (1845) by the French author Alexander Dumas and their relationship to the literary element called ‘‘romanesque‘‘. The first part introduces the key term ‘‘ romanesque ‘‘, the author himself, the novel and his historical context. The analytical part deals with the influence of ‘‘romanesque‘‘ on the historical model of chosen figures and their psychology in the novel.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská diplomová práce se zabývá historickými postavami románu La Reine Margot (1845) francouzského spisovatele Alexandra Dumase a jejich vztahem k literárnímu prvku zvanému ‘‘romanesque‘‘. V první části je představený klíčový pojem ‘‘romanesque‘‘, samotný autor, dílo a jeho historický kontext. Analytická část práce zkoumá vliv ‘‘romanesque‘‘ na historickou předlohu vybraných postav a na jejich psychologii v románu.
