Transformation of strategic relevance of the Barents Sea in terms of energy security of Norway and Russia

Anotace:

Cílem práce je popsat a analyzovat proměnu strategického významu Barentsova moře v souvislosti s předpokladem, že se v oblasti nacházejí významné zásoby ropy a zemního plynu. Práce si dále klade za cíl zhodnotit, zda má role regionu Barentsova moře v energetických strategiích obou zemí vliv na jejich vzájemné vztahy. Teoretickým rámcem práce je koncept energetické bezpečnosti. Téma práce se dotýká také role geopolitiky, respektive strategického významu specifických oblastí daného jejich geografickým charakterem.

Abstract:

The aim of the work is to describe and analyze the transformation of the strategic importance of the Barents Sea in connection with the assumption that there are significant reserves of oil and natural gas in the area. The thesis also aims to assess whether the role of the Barents region in the energy strategies of both countries influences their mutual relations. Theoretical framework to this paper is the concept of energy security. Topic of the work relates also to the role of geopolitics and strategic importance of specific areas given by their geographical characteristics.
