Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837) - Concerto in E flat major for trumpet and orchestra

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je seznámit čtenáře s životem Johanna Nepomuka Hummela, s historickým kontextem vzniku jeho trumpetového Koncertu Es dur pro trubku a orchestr, a s jeho interpretačními úskalími, jelikož Hummelův Koncert Es dur pro trubku a orchestr patří mezi stěžejní trumpetovou literaturu a neměl by chybět v repertoáru žádného koncertního trumpetisty. Tato práce by měla sloužit interpretovi k co největšímu seznámení s tímto koncertem a připravit jej k co nejlepší možné interpretaci. Pomoci by mu měla komplexní analýza, jenž je součástí této práce a objasní mu harmonické a formální řešení tohoto díla. Rovněž zde bylo pracováno s pěti nahrávkami čtyř interpretů, které interpretovi nabídnou osobité možnosti interpretace. Čtenáři je tak nabídnut celkový pohled na tento koncert, a měl by být zproštěn veškerých nezodpovězených interpretačních otázek.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to inform the reader on the life of Johann Nepomuk Hummel, on the historical context of the creation of his Trumpet Concerto in E-flat Major, and on its interpretation problems, since the concerto is an important piece and cannot be missed in a professional trumpet player?s repertoire. The thesis should serve the player to obtain the best knowledge of the concert possible and prepare for the best performance. A complex analysis, which is a part of the thesis, should be helpful to provide the player with the knowledge of the harmonic and formal structure. The thesis also draws from five recordings by four musicians, which can offer the player unique ways of interpretation. The reader is thus offered an overall view of the piece and should be left with no unanswered questions concerning interpretation.
