Ethics and aesthetics of the DIY principle in the field of contemporary Czech HC/PUNK scene

Abstract:

Text práce zkoumá působení a vliv etického principu Do It Yourself. Jako platformu pro své bádání byla zvolena česká hardcore/punková scéna, na níž je přítomnost tohoto principu klíčovým faktorem pro její fungování. To se snaží být co nejméně závislé na konzumní společnosti a systému, který ji řídí. Kromě jiného byl záběr práce orientován i na estetickou rovinu principu DIY ve spojení s HC/punk scénou. První polovina práce používala zejména odborné zdroje literatury, aby tak došlo k vymezení základních pojmů, zatímco druhá část se snažila o reflexi spíše z praktického hlediska. Z tohoto důvodu si vybrala jako svůj zásadní zdroj fanzin, který je neodmyslitelným zdrojem komunikace a informací na scéně. Navíc jeho vznik je výsledkem DIY tvůrčí činnosti, tudíž jak lépe zkoumat působení tohoto principu, než přímo na produktech a aktivitách na jeho etice vzniklých.

Abstract:

The text of this master thesis investigates an influence of ethical principle called Do It Yourself. As a platform for our research was chosen Czech hardcore / punk scene, where the presence of this principle is a key factor for its functioning. It strives to be the least dependent on the consumer society and the system that controls it. Among other things, the scope of work also focused on the aesthetic plane DIY principle in conjunction with HC / punk scene. The first half of the work used rather specialized literature sources, so there is a definition of basic concepts, while the second part was trying to reflect more practical terms. For this reason, the thesis chosen as its fundamental source fanzine, which is an indispensable source of communication and information at the scene. Moreover, its creation is the result of DIY creativity, so as to better examine the effect of this principle than on products and activities on the ethics incurred.
