Cost-benefit analysis of medical compensatory aids using 3D print

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem kvalifikační práce je vizualizace a tvorba kompenzačních pomůcek pomocí aditivní technologie 3D tisku a následná komparace nákladů na výrobu s tržními cenami pomůcek v České republice. Metodika: Diplomová práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části autor popisuje problematiku kompenzačních pomůcek, 3D tisku a analýzy nákladů. Data pro diplomovou práci byla čerpána formou rešeršních studií z odborné literatury a webových stránek zahraničních i domácích distributorů. V praktické části jsou tržní ceny porovnány s náklady na výrobu pomůcky na 3D tiskárně. Právě tato data obsahovala nejvíce informací potřebných k získání představy, jak velký je rozdíl mezi náklady na výrobu kompenzačních pomůcek a jejich finální tržní cenou. Výsledky: Z webových stránek českých distributorů bylo vybráno 10 kompenzační pomůcek a následně byly vytisknuty jejich alternativy pomocí 3D tiskárny. Konvenční pomůcky byly komparovány z pohledu nákladovosti s vytisknutými alternativami, jejichž 3D modely byly nalezeny na internetu, či vytvořeny v softwaru TinkerCAD, či Prusa Slicer. K přesným a stále stejným výpočtům byla využita kalkulačka naceňování 3D výtisků od Prusa Research a.s., do které byly nahrány G-cody s modely pomůcek. Předmětem komparace konvenčních a tištěných kompenzačních pomůcek byly především váha pomůcky, cena výroby, a čas pro výrobu nutný. Osm z deseti pomůcek tištěných na 3D tiskárně je možno označit za výhodnější než pomůcky konvenční. Závěr: Autor se domnívá, že na základě výsledků analýzy by bylo prospěšné a výhodné pořídit 3D tiskárnu na jakékoliv rehabilitační oddělení či zařízení, a to především s ohledem na kvalitnější rehabilitace cílené přímo na klienta. Získané výsledky a teoretické poznatky o 3D tisku kompenzačních pomůcek lze považovat za plnohodnotné přispění do edukace ergoterapeutů i široké veřejnosti. Dle názoru autora práce by bylo vhodné nadále rozvíjet 3D tisk v oblasti zdravotnictví a rehabilitace. Tvorba diplomové práce pomohlo autorovi rozšířit jeho znalosti o problematice kompenzačních pomůcek, analýzy nákladů a 3D tisku.

Abstract:

Target: The aim of this diploma thesis is the visualization and creation of assistive devices using additive 3D printing technology and subsequent comparison of production costs with market prices of devices in the Czech Republic. Metodics: This diploma thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, the author describes the issue of assistive devices, 3D printing and cost analysis. Data for the diploma thesis were drawn in the form of a research study from the scientific literature and websites of distributors, both foreign and domestic. In the practical part, market prices are compared with the cost of producing a device on a 3D printer. It was these data that contained the most information needed to get an idea of the difference between the cost of producing assistive devices and their final market price. Results: Ten assistive devices were selected from the websites of Czech distributors and subsequently their alternatives were printed out using a 3D printer. Conventional assistive devices were compared in terms of cost with printed alternatives, whose 3D models were found on the Internet, or created in TinkerCAD or Prusa Slicer software. For the exact and still the same calculations, a pricing calculator for 3D printed models from Prusa Research a.s. was used, in which G-codes with utility models were loaded. Time, price and weight were compared between conventional and printed devices. Eight out of ten devices printed on a 3D printer were more advantageous than conventional ones. Conclusion: The author believes that based on the results of the analysis, it would be beneficial and advantageous to purchase a 3D printer for any rehabilitation department or facility, especially in terms of better rehabilitation aimed directly at the client. The obtained results and theoretical knowledge about 3D printing of assistive devices can be considered as full-fledged to contribute to the education of both occupational therapists and the general public. In the opinion of the author, it would be appropriate to further develop 3D printing in the field of health care and rehabilitation. Writing this diploma thesis helped the author to expand his knowledge of the issue of assistive devices, cost analysis and 3D printing.
