Abstract:
The diploma thesis Animism in Jean Rhys's Wide Sargasso Sea is focused on three religious currents: Christianity, Afro-Dominican obeah, and Animism in the Caribbean Islands after the Abolition Act of 1833. The thesis aims to verify the presence of animism from the main protagonist's perspective through text analysis and historical data divided into two parts.
