Current perceptions of kinship and family

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na chápání příbuzenství a rodiny. Výzkum byl prováděn mezi ženami 30-40 let v České republice. Jak definují rodinu, jaké hodnoty přikládají rodině a příbuzenství. Zabývá se faktory, které ovlivňují to, proč některé osoby do rodiny zahrnujeme a jiné nikoliv. Část výzkumu byla zaměřena na chápání mateřství a otcovství a rodičovských rolí. Výsledky jsou srovnávány s prací Davida Schneidera Americké příbuzenství (1968).

Abstract:

The work is about kinship and family. Subjects of the research were women in their thirties native to and living in the Czech Republic, how they define family and what values they put on family and kinship. It looks also at factors which influence why we include some people in the family and exclude others. Part of the research also studied and assessed the roles of motherhood, fatherhood and parental roles. The results are compared with the work of David Schneider, American kinship (1968).
