How do different types of humour included in communication influence perception of its quality?

Abstract:

Autor se v bakalářské práci zabývá dopadem dvou rozdílných druhů humoru, afiliativního a ofenzivního, na vnímání kvality mezilidské komunikace, jejímž cílem je vyřešení určitého problému (operativní komunikace či vyjednávání). Teoretická část práce je shrnutím možných pohledů na funkci humoru v mezilidské komunikaci. Zaměřuje se především na poznatky o možných důsledcích různých podob humoru a pokouší se je interpretovat v kontextu teorií komunikace se zřetelem k možným pohledům na kvalitu komunikace. Sběr dat pro empirickou část studie proběhl pomocí dotazníku, v němž participanti hodnotili komunikaci zhlédnutou ve videoklipu vytvořeném pro účely tohoto výzkumu. Dotazník sestával kvůli cíli výzkumu, získání co nejkomplexnějšího pohledu na zkoumanou problematiku, ze škálovacích otázek i volných výpovědí. K analýze dat byly využity jak kvalitativní, tak kvantitativní postupy. Výsledky jsou dále interpretovány.

Abstract:

In the present thesis author deals with the problem of different types of humor (affiliative and offensive) and their impact upon perception of quality of interpersonal communication, which, as a goal, has resolving of particular problem (operative communication or negotiation). Theoretical part of the study focuses on possible views of humor's function in communication. Mainly, it contains knowledge about possible consequences of humor and attempts to interprete them in context of different communication theories considering possible aproaches to communication quality. Data used in the empirical part of the study were collected by using a questionnare in which participants evaluated communication seen in the videoclip created for research use. The questionnare contained both scale and open questions, so that research could provide the most complex possible depiction of problem. Both quantitative and qualitative methods were used to analyze the data. Results are further discussed.
