Design of an intarsed furniture piece according to Japanese crafts

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na posouzení možnosti využití tradičních japonských řemesel k výrobě intarzovaného nábytkového dílce. Dále se pozornost v práci zaměřuje na přípravu jednotlivých komponentů a podkladů intarzií z různých druhů dřev. Součástí práce je výroba vzorové intarzie, která se posuzuje z hlediska spotřeby materiálu a času, tj. je provedeno srovnání této intarzie s tradičně vyrobenou intarzií a jsou posouzeny možnosti využití na výrobcích (podlahy, nábytek apod.). Práce dále obsahuje postup návrhu vzoru pro intarzii, výběr materiálů a použité stroje a vybavení, celkový výrobní postup vlastního navrženého vzoru a dvou intarzií z něj i výrobní postup druhého vzoru a z něj vyrobené intarzie. Obsahuje také spotřebu materiálů a času pro výrobu vzorů a konečných intarzií, jejich porovnání s tradiční intarzií a jejich použití na nábytek, dekorace apod.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is aimed at the assessment of using traditional Japanese crafts for producing an intarsed furniture piece. Furthermore, the attention in the thesis is also focused on producing individual components and bases of intarsias from various kinds of wood. A part of the thesis is the production of a sample intarsia that is evaluated from the point of view of material and time consumption, i.e. this intarsia is compared to a traditionally made one, and possibilities of its use in various products (floors, furniture, etc.) are assessed. In addition, the thesis contains the procedure for the design of the pattern for intarsia, the choice of materials, and used machines and equipment, the overall production process of the actual designed pattern and two intarsias made on the basis of it as well as the production procedure of the second pattern and the intarsia made based on it. The thesis also contains the material and time consumption for making the pattern and the final intarsias, their comparison to a traditional intarsia, and the use for making furniture, decorations, etc.
