Cost-effectiveness Analysis of Screening and Brief Intervention in the area of alcohol in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato disertační práce se zaměřuje na ekonomickou evaluaci krátkých intervencí v oblasti alkoholu v lékařské praxi v České republice. S využitím kombinace kvantitativních a kvalitativních výzkumných metod, včetně dotazníkového šetření mezi praktickými lékaři metodou Delphi a experimentální studie s technologií eye-tracking, práce analyzuje účinnost a náklady související s poskytováním intervencí, překážky bránící jejich širší implementaci v rámci primární zdravotní péče, jejich vnímání zdravotnickými pracovníky nebo informační účinnost doprovodného intervenčního materiálu. Výsledky ukazují, že i přes stěžejní bariéry jako je nedostatečná informovanost, časová omezení nebo absence finančních stimulů představuje krátká intervence z pohledu praktických lékařů i provedené analýzy nákladové efektivity účinný nástroj pro snižování spotřeby alkoholu napříč rizikovými skupinami konzumentů.

Abstract:

This dissertation thesis is focusing on the economic evaluation of alcohol brief interventions in primary medical practice in the Czech Republic. Using a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods, including a Delphi questionnaire survey of GPs and an experimental study using eye-tracking technology, it analyses the effectiveness and costs associated with delivering the interventions, barriers to their wider implementation in primary care, their perception by health professionals, and the informational effectiveness of the accompanying intervention materials. The results show that, despite key barriers such as lack of awareness, time constraints or lack of financial incentives, the brief intervention is an effective tool for reducing alcohol consumption among high-risk drinking groups from the perspective of GPs and the cost-effectiveness analyses conducted.
