Risk in capital budgeting for particular company

Abstract:

This thesis aims to examine the risks in capital budgeting of a particular company. The study is of an analytical and application oriented nature. The research presented here is divided into several sections. In the first section, the study is based on theoretical data gathered on the topics of investment planning, capital budgeting process, risk analysis in capital budgeting, and statistical methods assessment for the investment project. The second section of the study focused on the strategic planning process, using the SWOT analysis to evaluate the internal and external factors involved in the project planning, as well as, the time schedule and work plan of the project. The third section studied cost and capital budgeting methods, and cash flow prognosis. A large part of this section was contributed to dynamic methods of the investment project. The last section dealed with risk assessment process, analyzing the value of risk related to a situation, and the decisions regarding the financing of the project. The purpose of this study is to analyze and evaluate the investment project in EMPORA CAPITAL company. The project was in the process of preparation and planning at the time of writing the thesis; before handing in the application form to the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic. There have been several different methods employed to collect the data. In the first section, a descriptive method was used, focusing on theoretical information. The second section consisted of a detailed assessment of the company and the investment project, respectively. The analysis was based on careful consideration of the company’s current operations and environements. In the third and fourth section, the methods of analysis and synthesis were utilized to produce statistical and mathematical data.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca má analyticko – aplikačný charakter. Je zameraná na skúmanie rizika v kapitálovom rozpočte investičného projektu v konkrétnom podniku. Východiskom pre diplomovú prácu sú teoretické poznatky obsiahnuté v prvej časti diplomovej práce, týkajúce sa danej problematiky, konkrétne plánovania investícií, procesu kapitálového rozpočtovania, metódam hodnotenia investičného projektu až po meranie rizika v kapitálovom rozpočtovaní. V druhej časti tejto práce je opis investičného projektu s prevedenou SWOT analýzou projektu až po časový a vecný popis realizácie projektu. V tretej časti práce je rozpracované nákladového, kapitálové rozpočtovanie a prognóza peňažných tokov. Veľký priestor je v tejto časti práce venovaný dynamickým metódam hodnotenia investičného projektu. V poslednej štvrtej časti diplomovej práce je hodnotené riziko cez analýzu a meranie rizika až po tvorbu rozhodnutí o financovaní investičného projektu. Hlavným zámerom tejto diplomovej práce je analyzovať a vyhodnotiť pripravovaný investičný projekt v spoločnosti EMPORA CAPITAL a. s. Rimavská Sobota, ktorý je v čase spracovania tejto diplomovej práce v štádiu plánovania pred podaním Žiadosti o nenávratný finančný príspevok od poskytovateľa Ministerstva hospodárstva SR. Pri spracovaní práce boli použité rôzne metódy. V prvej kapitole bola použitá metóda popisná. V druhej kapitole ide o podrobnejšie detailizovanie konkrétneho podniku, súčasného stavu a investičného projektu. V tretej a štvrtej kapitole sú použité metódy analýzy a syntézy a sú použité štatisticko – matematické výpočty.
