Architectural Work of Otto Rothmayer

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá architektonickým dílem Otto Rothmayera (1892-1966), které se ve velké míře nachází na území města Prahy a v jeho blízkém okolí. Na základě dochovaných staveb a plánové dokumentace je objasňován Rothmayerův podíl na Plečnikových úpravách Pražského hradu po vzniku republiky v roce 1918 i jeho samostatná hradní tvorba mezi lety 1936-1956. Druhým těžištěm práce jsou Rothmayerovy architektonické realizace mimo hradní areál, na kterých je představen Rothmayerův osobitý umělecký výraz a vlastní výtvarný názor.

Abstract:

The primary objective of the diploma thesis is the architectural work by Otto Rothmayer (1892-1966) which is mainly found in Prague and its surroundings. In reference to the well preserved buildings and layout records there is explained Rothmayer’s influence on Plečnik’s reconstruction of the Prague castle after the foundation of the First Republic in 1918, and Rothmayer’s own work on Prague castle between the years 1936-1956. The subsequent objective of the thesis is Rothmayer’s architectural realization outside the castle area where is shown Rothmayer’s individual artistic and visual style.
