Tap Dancing as an Integral Part of Dramatic Art - the Attemt for Comparative Analysis

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá fenoménem „stepový tanec“ a jeho způsobem použití v různých inscenačních tvarech. Hlavním tématem je srovnávací analýza stepu v činohře Komik (The Entertainer) od Johna Osborna (Divadlo bratří Mrštíků, dnešní Městské divadlo Brno, 1981), dále v pantomimě, konkrétně v díle Trosečník Boleslava Polívky (Divadlo na provázku, dnešní divadlo Husa na provázku, Brno 1987) a v muzikálu Kniha džungle Radoslava Balaše podle povídek Rudyarda Kiplinga (Divadlo J. K. Tyla, Plzeň 2007). V úvodních kapitolách se autorka věnuje zhodnocení stepu v jeho významných vývojových etapách v Severní Americe. Následující kapitoly se týkají zhodnocení vývoje stepu u nás v návaznosti na historický a společensko-politický kontext doby. V závěrečných kapitolách autorka uvádí shrnutí výsledků bádání o použití stepu ve zkoumaných inscenacích a rovněž se zamýšlí, kam směřuje současný step.

Abstract:

The work is about the “tap dancing“ fenomena and its use in various stage designs. The main topic is a comparative tap dance analysis in the drama The Entertainer by John Osborne (Divadlo bratří Mrštíků, nowdays Městské divadlo Brno, 1981), then in the pantomime, here in the play Trosečník by Boleslav Polívka (Divadlo na provázku, nowdays divadlo Husa na Provázku, Brno 1987) and in the musical The Jungle Book by Radoslav Balaš based on the tales by Rudyard Kippling (Divadlo J. K. Tyla, Plzeň 2007). The preface chapters are devoted to the evaluation of tap dancing in its important, evalutional stages in North America. The next chapters evaluate tap dancing in our country influented by historical and social-political context of that time. Finally, in the last chapters, the author summarises the results of her investigation how the tap dance is used in certain dramas and she also gives a thought about the present tap dancing future.
