Family as a source of social support for the homeless

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem sociální opory, která nás provází každodenním životem a může přinášet pozitiva i negativa. Téma sociální opory bylo zúženo na pohled na osoby bez přístřeší, a proto je zde také popsán fenomén osob bez přístřeší. Teoretická část vysvětluje pojem sociální opory a teorie s ním spojené, zabývá se rodinou jakožto poskytovatelem sociální opory a osobami bez přístřeší. Teoretická část přechází v část praktickou, jejímž cílem je zjistit, jaké zdroje sociální opory mají lidé bez přístřeší u rodiny a jaké mimo ni a zda se jejich možnosti v minulosti lišily. Data byla získaná pomocí nestrukturovaného (hloubkového) interview, následné transkripce a zpracování otevřeným kódováním. Výsledky výzkumu ukázaly reálné a potenciální zdroje sociální opory, potvrdily lepší situaci osob bez přístřeší v minulosti a také přinesly potvrzení teorie.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with a topic of social support which accompanies us through everyday life and can bring us both pros and cons. The topic of social support was narrowed down to the insight at a person without shelter. That is why the phenomenon of people without shelter is described here. The theoretical part explains a term of social support and theories connected with it, it deals with family as a provider of social support and people without shelter. The theoretical part merges into the practical part and its aim is to find out what sources of social support do people have within a family or outside it and if their opportunities were different in the past. The data were gained with a help of an unstructured [in-depth] interview followed by a transcription and handling by open coding. The survey results showed real and potential sources of social support, they verified better situation for people without shelter in the past and also brought verification of the theory.
