Spatiotemporal crosstalk study of cytokinin and ethylene in Arabidopsis

Abstract:

Rostlinné hormony přispívají k regulaci všech metabolických, adaptivních nebo vývojových procesů, které se odehrávají v průběhu života rostliny. Potřeba pochopit molekulární mechanismy v pozadí těchto hormonálních regulací vychází z rostoucího počtu dat o komplexních interakcích mezi hormony. Cytokinin a etylén jsou dva rostlinné hormony které vykazují kontrolu nad nesmírným množstvím vývojových procesů. Poslední desetiletí přineslo mnoho nových zjištění ohledně interakcí mezi cytokininem a etylénem, ale příliš mnoho otázek pořád zůstává bez odpovědi. V této práci byly sledovány geny regulátorů odpovědi typu A (ARR-A) u Arabidopsis, které odrážejí odpověď cytokininové signální dráhu. ARR-A geny byly studovány za účelem prošetření časoprostorových interakcí cytokininu a etylénu za přítomnosti různých kombinací těchto hormonů. Získané výsledky ukazuji, že jak cytokinin tak etylén se společně podílejí na regulaci exprese jednotlivých typů ARR-A, a že tyto regulace jsou tkáňově a časově specifické.

Abstract:

Plant hormones contribute to regulation of every metabolic, adaptive or developmental process that takes place during the plant life. The need to understand the molecular mechanisms behind the hormonal regulations results from growing evidence of complex crosstalk amongst phytohormones. Cytokinin and ethylene are two plant hormones that exhibit control over a tremendous amount of developmental processes. Many revelations concerning the cytokinin–ethylene crosstalk have been made during the past decades; however, still too many questions remain without answer. This thesis focused on Arabidopsis Response Regulators genes type A (ARRs-A), which are the cytokinin primary response genes and reflect the response of cytokinin signalling pathway, ARRs-A were studied in order to investigate the spatiotemporal crosstalk of cytokinin and ethylene in the presence of different combinations of these hormones. The obtained results demonstrate that both cytokinin and ethylene together are in control of the expression of individual ARRs-A, and that these regulations are tissue-and time-specific.
