Relations between school achievement motivation, self-efficacy, self-control and school achievement of secondary school students

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo prozkoumat souvislosti mezi školní výkonovou motivací, self-efficacy, sebekontrolou a školním prospěchem u studentů středních škol. Také jsme se zaměřili na genderové rozdíly a rozdíly v typu střední školy. Výzkumný soubor byl tvořen 367 studenty 2. a 3. ročníků, z toho 224 bylo žen (61,2 %) a 142 bylo mužů (38,8 %). Jako metody byly využity dotazníky Školní výkonová motivace žáků, SEQ-C a BSCS. Bylo zjištěno, že školní prospěch (čím nižší, tím lepší) negativně koreluje s potřebou úspěšného výkonu (r = -0,450), celkovým (r = -0,257) a akademickým self-efficacy (r = -0,644), sebekontrolou (r = -0,408) a pozitivně s potřebou vyhnout se neúspěchu (r = 0,131). Dále jsme zjistili, že studenti gymnázií mají vyšší úrovně celkového a akademického self-efficacy, sebekontroly a lepší školní prospěch než studenti středních odborných škol. V rámci genderových rozdílů dívky měly lepší školní prospěch a dosahovaly vyšší úrovně potřeby vyhnout se neúspěchu, naproti tomu chlapci dosahovali vyšších výsledků v celkovém a emocionálním self-efficacy. Výsledky přináší důležité poznatky pro pedagogickou psychologii a pedagogickou praxi.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis was to examine the relations between school achievement motivation, self-efficacy, self-control and school achievement of secondary school students. We also concentrated on gender differences and differences in the type of secondary school. The research sample consisted of 367 students of 2nd and 3rd grades, of whom 224 were female (61,2 %) and 142 were men (38,8 %). As methods questionnaires Školní výkonová motivace žáků, SEQ-C and BSCS were used. It was found that school achievement (the lower, the better) negatively correlates with the need to achieve success (r = -0,450), total (r = -0,257) and academic self-efficacy (r = -0,644), self-control (r = -0,408) and positively with the need to avoid failure (r = 0,131). Next, we found that students from grammar secondary school have higher levels of total and academic self-efficacy, self-control and better school achievement than students from secondary technical schools. Within the gender differences, girls had better school achievement and achieved higher level of the need to avoid failure, on the other hand, boys scored higher in levels of total and emotional self-efficacy. The results bring important findings for educational psychology and educational practice.
