2016 Slovak parliamentary elections results in the context of the previouse results

Abstract:

The goal of this work is to analyse the results of the parliamentary election in Slovakia in 2016. The present study combines the composition and contextual approaches to analysing election results. Attention is given to explaining changes in the voting turnout and their effect on parties fortunes, describing voters transitions between two elections by using the ecological inference method and analysing aggregated election data and data from the 2011 national census by using statistical and cartographic methods. This work sheds light on the election results of traditional parties, new parties and specifically on the support of the far-right party ĽSNS. Additionally, it clarifies the presence of social cleavages in political representation.

Abstract:

Cieľom tejto práce je analyzovať výsledky parlamentných volieb na Slovenskú v roku 2016. Štúdia kombinuje kompozičný a kontextuálny prístupy k analýze výsledkov volieb. Pozornosť je venovaná zmenám volebnej účasti a jej vplyvu na výsledky strán. Práca popisuje voličské presuny medzi dvoma parlamentnými voľbami. Využíva k tomu metódu ekologickej inferencie. K analýze volebných výsledkov využíva štatistické a kartografické postupy, pričom pracuje s agregovanými dátami z cenzu 2011 a volebnými výsledkami. Práca objasňuje výsledky tradičných strán, nových strán a špeciálne podporu krajne pravicovej ĽSNS. Taktiež analyzuje prítomnosť sociálnych konfliktných línii v politickej reprezentácii.
