Abstract:

Bakalářská práce, je zaměřena na analýzu zahraniční politiky USA za George W. Bushe. Jelikož je toto téma příliš obsáhlé, je práce psána v kontextu války s terorismem. Důvodem zvolení tohoto kontextu je fakt, že v období, na které je práce zaměřena hrála válka s terorismem primární roli v zahraniční politice USA. Bush původně plánoval vést zahraniční politiku spíše izolacionisticky než intervencionalisticky. Změnit zahraniční politiku ho přinutily útoky z 11. září 2001. V reakci na ně se rázem Bushova zahraniční politika změnila a došlo k několika intervencím. Jako odpověď na 11. září 2001 Bush vstoupil do válek v Iráku a Afghánistánu. Tyto dvě války jsou analyzovány v práci v kapitole druhé s názvem Válka s terorismem. Kapitola první analyzuje Bushovu doktrínu a období předtím, než se stal prezidentem. Třetí a Čtvrtá kapitola analyzují zahraniční politiku USA za prezidentského období George W. Bushe. Kapitola třetí nese název První prezidentské období a kapitola Čtvrtá nese název Druhé prezidentské období. V těchto kapitolách je provedena analýza strategických dokumentů, prezidentských setkání a Bushových projevů. Tato část práce, je pro práci primární, jelikož čtenáři popisuje postupný vývoj zahraniční politiky USA rok po roku. Práce je psána jako případová studie a má jednu výzkumnou otázku: Jak ovlivnila válka s terorismem zahraniční politiku USA vůči Rusku a jaký měla dopad na vývoj vzájemných vztahů ? Krom zodpovězení této otázky má práce za cíl také analyzovat jak válka proti terorismu ovlivnila vztah mezi USA a Ruskem a také zjistit co USA po Rusku požadovaly a očekávaly v rámci zahraniční politiky a v kontextu války s teorismem.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with analysis of U.S. foreign policy towards Russia during George W. Bush presidency. Because this topic is too extensive, the thesis is written in context of war on terror. Reason for choosing this contex is that the war on terror was the biggest topic in a foreign policy in a period of time , on which is the thesis focused on. Bush planned to be more isolationist than interventionist president during his pre-election campaign in the terms of foreign policy. The change in foreign policy came after 11. september 2001. The teroristic attacks forced him to become an intervencionist. As an answer on the terrorist attacks Bush entered war in Afghanistan and Iraq. This two events are analysed in chapter two called War on terror. Chapter one analyzes Bush doctrine and period of time before Bush became the President of the U.S. The third and fourth chapter analyzes Bush´s presidency. These two chapters analyze the strategic documents, meetings and Presidental speeches. This part of thesis is the main part of analyzis because it tells to reader what were the changes in U.S. foreign policy like, year after year. The thesis is maidas the case of study and contains one question. How did the war on terror affect the US foreign policy towards Russia and how did it affect the development of mutual relations? Besides answering this question this thesis have another goal to analyses how the war on terrorism has affected relations between these states, what wanted the U.S. from Russia in terms of foreign policy and what did they expected from them.
