Linguistic procedures of war propaganda: the example of Russian persuasion in the French press

Abstract:

This Master’s thesis represents the linguistic processes of persuasive communication, which are the basis of war propaganda. It is divided into three parts, the first is theoretical, which introduces the reader to the foundations of cognitive linguistics and psycholinguistics. The second part presents a more precise theoretical study of the concept of persuasion and linguistic methods of persuasion in discourse. In the third practical part, we analyze the political discourse of Russian military propaganda both with the aim of identifying linguistic-pragmatic means and communicative tactics of persuasion that contribute to the construction of reality and to mold the behavior of recipients.

Abstract:

Ce travail de Master est une étude des processus linguistiques de la communication persuasive, qui sont à la base de la propagande militaire. Il est divisé en trois parties, la première est théorique, qui introduit le lecteur aux fondements de la linguistique cognitive et de la psycholinguistique. La deuxième partie présente une étude théorique plus précise du concept de persuasion et de méthodes linguistiques de persuasion dans le discours. Dans la troisième partie pratique, on analyse le discours politique de la propagande militaire russe à la fois dans le but d’identifier des moyens linguo-pragmatiques et des tactiques communicatives de persuasion qui contribuent à la construction de la réalité et à modeler le comportement des destinataires.
