Changes in body fat distribution in pre-school to younger school age – a semilongitudinal study

Abstract:

The adipose tissue of the human body begins to develop during prenatal development and changes throughout life, more in individual periods, less in others. The aim of this work was to compare and statistically test the values of individual measuremens of the human body in children measured in 2020 with three studies from previous years. Another goal was to compare whether there are any differences between the sexes of 3,00 – 5,99 year old children and to describe the changes that were observable in the individual measured dimensions and indices. A total of 58 children, 29 girls and 29 boys were measured, each with height, weight, waist circumference and hip circumference, and two indices, WHtR and WHR index, were calculated. Statistically significant differences were observed most often between our data and data from Petra Radvanská's research. When comparing the values of the dimensions between the sexes, no statistically significant difference was found from our research. Based on measurements over a year and a half, the individual curves of each individual were also plotted in a common graph to make the changes in the figure at this age of the individual well visible. Height and body weight increase in both sexes, circumferential measures usually increase, but this is more evident in the girth of boys' hips. The WHtR index, as a good indicator of body change and centrally stored fat distribution, ultimately decreases in both sexes, due to increasing body height and decreasing waist circumference. The WHR index is also declining, but milder than the WHtR index and milder in girls than in boys.

Abstract:

Tuková tkáň lidského těla se začíná vyvíjet již během prenatálního vývoje a mění se po celý život, v jednotlivých obdobích více, v jiných méně. Cílem této práce bylo porovnat a statisticky otestovat hodnoty jednotlivých rozměrů lidského těla u dětí naměřené v roce 2020 se třemi výzkumy z předchozích let. Dalším cílem bylo porovnat, zda jsou nějaké rozdíly mezi pohlavími 3,00 – 5,99 letých dětí a popsat změny, které byly pozorovatelné v jednotlivých naměřených rozměrech a indexech. Celkem bylo změřeno 58 dětí, 29 dívek a 29 chlapců, u každého byla změřena výška, váha, obvod pasu a obvod boků a byly vypočítány dva indexy, WHtR a WHR index. Statisticky významné rozdíly byly pozorovány nejčastěji mezi našimi daty a daty z výzkumu Petry Radvanské. Při porovnání hodnot rozměrů mezi pohlavími z našeho výzkumu nebyl nalezen žádný statisticky významný rozdíl. Na základě měření během roku a půl byly vyobrazeny i individuální křivky každého jedince ve společném grafu, aby byly dobře viditelné změny postavy v tomto věku života jedince. Výška postavy a tělesná hmotnost se u obou pohlaví zvyšují, obvodové míry se obvykle zvyšují, ale více je to vidět u obvodu boků chlapců. WHtR index, jako dobrý ukazatel změny postavy a distribuce centrálně uloženého tuku, se u obou pohlaví v konečném důsledku snižuje, kvůli zvyšování výšky postavy a snižování obvodu pasu. WHR index se rovněž snižuje, ale mírnější než WHtR index a mírnější u dívek než u chlapců.
