Abstract:

Cílem této práce je prozkoumání historie TJ Sokol Polička v období od jeho založení roku 1870 do roku 1939. Práce je rozdělena na čtyři základní kapitoly. První kapitola se věnuje počátkům sokolského hnutí. Druhá se zabývá historií poličského Sokola v letech 1870-1874, třetí se zaměřuje na období 1884-1918 a čtvrtá kapitola mapuje dějiny poličské jednoty v letech 1919 -1939.Poličský Sokol můžeme bezesporu zařadit mezi nejvýznamnější spolky, jež se výrazně zapsaly do historie města Poličky. Diplomová práce zkoumá historii Sokola z několika pohledů. Zaměřuje se na činnost poličské jednoty po stránce tělovýchovné, kulturní, vzdělávací a společenské. Věnuje se rovněž nejvýznamnějším osobnostem poličského Sokola, které se zasloužily o vznik a chod jednoty. Mapuje také, jak byl přijat poličský Sokol zdejším obyvatelstvem a jak se jeho postoj k Sokolu vyvíjel. Práce se nezaměřuje pouze na činnost poličské jednoty, ale jde o širší pojetí, jež přispívá k lepšímu pochopení sokolských idejí a jejich významu v naší historii.

Abstract:

The purpose of this diploma thesis is to explore Polička Sokol Gymnastic Club’s history from its foundation in the year 1870 to the year 1939. The work is divided into four cardinal chapters. The first part deals with the beginnings of the Sokol movement. The second one focuses on the history of Polička Sokol Gymnastic Club in the years 1870 – 1874. The third chapter explores the history of this institution in the years 1884-1918. The fourth one surveys the history of Polička Sokol Gymnastic Club in the years 1919-1939.Polička Sokol Gymnastic Club is without doubt an institution which plays a significant role in Polička´s town history. The diploma thesis explores Sokol Gymnastic Club’s history from more points of view. It focuses on the Gymnastic Club’s following activities: physical education, cultural, educational and social. It also deals with the most important personalities who contributed to the foundation and running of this institution. The diploma thesis also focuses on the attitude of Polička inhabitants towards Polička Sokol Gymnastic Club and how it developed in the course of the time. The work does not only include Polička Sokol Gymnastic Club ´s activities but also focuses on general Sokol Gymnastic Clubs´ ideas and their importance for our history which contributes to better understanding of this topic.
