The perception of Brno architecture and housing standards of the early 1930s in the period magazines „Housing Standards“, „Construction“ and „We Live“

Abstract:

Práce reflektuje brněnskou architekturu a bytovou kulturu v dobových časopisech Bytová kultura, Stavba a Žijeme. Úvodní kapitoly seznamují s teoretickými východisky a zařazují tematiku do kulturněhistorického kontextu doby první republiky. Stěžejní část práce představuje analýzu problematiky architektury a bytové kultury v jednotlivých periodikách. Analýze každého časopisu je věnována samostatná kapitola, členění je rozlišeno dle zveřejňovaných témat. Bytová kultura se zaměřila na individuální bydlení, Stavba a Žijeme se více věnují kolektivním formám bydlení a průmyslově vyráběným bytovým doplňkům. Závěr práce přináší srovnání časopisů po stránce obsahového zaměření a redakčních stylů

Abstract:

The thesis reflects the Brno architecture and housing standards in the period magazines Bytová kultura, Stavba and Žijeme. The introductory chapters provide a theoretical background and rank the topic within the cultural and historical context of the First Republic. The fundamental part of the thesis analyzes the issue of architecture and housing standards in the individual periodicals. Each magazine is analysed in an individual chapter with structure reflecting the published topics. Bytová kultura focused on individual lodging, whereas Stavba and Žijeme were more devoted to collective forms of living and industrially manufactured indoor decorations. The thesis' conclusion compares the magazines in terms of their contents and editorial style.
