Economic causes of deforestation in Indonesia with a focus on oil palm cultivation and possible solutions

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce má za cíl identifikovat nejvýznamnější ekonomické příčiny deforestace v Indonésii se zaměřením na pěstování palmy olejné a navržení možných řešení vedoucích ke zpomalení odlesňování způsobeného jejím nadměrným pěstováním. Bakalářská práce je strukturována na dvě hlavní kapitoly. První část práce obsahuje teoretická vymezení a obecná východiska související s danou problematikou, která slouží především jako výchozí rámec pro analýzu v druhé části práce, ale i k pochopení kontextu celé problematiky. Dotýká se obecných příčin a trendů deforestace, a dalších environmentálních problémů spojených s exploatací přírodního bohatství. Další kapitola práce je zaměřena konkrétněji na případ Indonésie a její dominantní příčiny, s důrazem na problematiku pěstování palmy olejné.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to identify the most important economic causes of deforestation in Indonesia with a focus on the cultivation of oil palm and to propose possible solutions to slow down deforestation, which is caused by its over-cultivation. The bachelor thesis is divided into two main chapters. The first part of the thesis contains theoretical approach and general basis related to the issue, which serves primarily as an initial framework for the analysis in the second part of the thesis, but also to understand the context of the whole issue. In the subchapters it addresses the general causes of deforesation and other environmental issues associated with the exploitation of natural resources. The second chapter is focused specifically on the case of Indonesia and its dominant causes with emphasis on the issue of palm oil cultivation.
