Application of the Balanced Scorecard

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je analyzovat vybranou sklářskou společnost a s využitím metodiky Balanced Scorecard pro ni doporučit strategii, formulovat strategické cíle, měřítka, cílové hodnoty a strategické iniciativy a na závěr vytvořit strategickou mapu. Teoretická část práce definuje stěžejní pojmy dané problematiky, metody a nástroje vnitřní a vnější strategické analýzy a metodiku Balanced Scorecard. Praktická část nejprve představuje sledovanou společnost a odvětví. Dále je provedena strategická analýza, která se z pohledu makrookolí zaměřuje na faktory PESTEL a průzkum konkurence s využitím Porterova modelu pěti konkurenčních sil. Vnitřní prostředí je popsáno na základě analýzy zdrojů VRIO a zjištěním finančního zdraví společnosti dle metodiky INFA. Souhrnnou analýzou vnějšího a vnitřního prostředí je analýza SWOT. Získané podklady jsou východiskem pro samotnou aplikaci metodiky Balanced Scorecard na podmínky sledované společnosti. Závěr práce shrnuje výsledky analýz, budoucnost odvětví obalového skla a pozici sledované společnosti.

Abstract:

The aim of this Master´s Thesis is to analyze the selected glass company and, on the basis of the data obtained for it, using the Balanced Scorecard methodology to recommend strategy, formulate objectives, measures, targets and strategic initiatives and finally create a strategic map. The theoretical part of the Thesis describes the key concepts of the given issue, methods and tools of internal and external strategic analysis and Balanced Scorecard methodology. The practical part firstly represents the analyzed company and container glass sector. Furthermore, a strategic analysis is carried out, focusing on PESTEL factors and a competition survey using the Porter's Five Forces. The internal environment is based on the analysis of the VRIO sources and the financial health of the company according to the INFA methodology. A comprehensive analysis of the external and internal environment represents the SWOT. The results of the analyzes are the basis for the application of the Balanced Scorecard methodology to the conditions of the analyzed company. The conclusion of the paper summarizes the results of the analyzes, the future of the container glass sector and the position of the analyzed company.
