Sweden Democrats and the Finns: A Comparative Study of Populist Radical Right-Wing Parties in Scandinavia

Abstract:

Anotace Bakalářská práce se zabývá podobnostmi a rozdíly mezi dvěma populistickými radikálně pravicovými stranami, Švédskými demokraty a Pravými Finy. S pomocí konceptu maximální definice Case Muddeho jsou obecně definovány charakteristiky populistických radikálně pravicových stran, a to nativismu, autoritarianismu a populismu. Tyto charakteristiky jsou pak zkoumány u Švédských demokratů a Pravých Finů. Součástí práce je krátký popis stranických systémů Švédska a Finska od 90. let 20. století a historie a volební úspěch obou výše zmíněných stran.

Abstract:

Annotation The bachelor thesis deals with similarities and differences between two populist radical right parties, between Sweden Democrats and The True Finns. With the help of the concept of the maximal definition of Cas Mudde are definined in general characteristics of populist radical right parties, namely nativism, authoritarianism and populism. These characteristics are studied within Sweden democrats and within The True Finns. The constituent part of the thesis is a short description of party systems of Sweden and Finland from the 90th years of the 20th century and a history and electoral success of the two parties mentioned above.
