Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce analyzuje vliv území na formování Australské národní identity. Práce se zaměřuje na důležitost území během tvorby národní identity a využití krajiny australskými osadníky za účelem zformování pocitu sounáležitosti. Práce později poukazuje na zájem domorodých obyvatel získat zpět svá územní práva a dopad této snahy na proces rekonciliace. Práce argumentuje, že proces rekonciliace nedosáhl zrovnoprávnění domorodých obyvatel, ani jejich začlenění do národních otázek, kvůli obavám z rekultivace práv na území domorodými obyvateli.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis analyses land’s role in forming Australian national identity. The thesis focuses on the importance of land in shaping national identity and the settlers’ usage of landscape to construct a sense of belonging. The later focus is on the interest of Indigenous people in the reclamation of land rights and its impact on the Reconciliation process. The thesis argues that the Reconciliation process was unsuccessful in the pursuit of Indigenous equality, and their involvement in the national discourse, as a result of settler fear of Indigenous people’s reclamation of their land rights.
