Automatic testing of web applications based on ASP.NET MVC

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is the design of automatic tests for applications based on ASP.NET MVC. In the theoretical part, important concepts that are related with testing are explained and there's also description of the available tools for the .NET platform. In the practical part, typical scenarios, which you may encounter during creation of automated tests, are described. It is mainly about testing Ajax elements, isolating coupled components using mock objects and monitoring of already running applications. The practical part also contains the specific set of tests which has been used in the development of selected application.

Abstract:

Cieľom diplomovej práce je navrhnutie automatických testov pre aplikácie postavených na ASP.NET MVC. V teoretickej časti sú vysvetlené dôležité pojmy, ktoré súvisia s testovaním a taktiež je uvedený popis dostupných nástrojov pre platformu .NET. V praktickej časti práce sú podrobne popísané typické scenáre, s ktorými sa stretávame pri tvorbe automatických testov. Jedná sa predovšetkým o testovanie ajaxových prvkov, izoláciu jednotlivých komponent s využitím mock objektov a monitorovanie už zabehnutých aplikácii. Praktická časť je taktiež doplnená o konkrétnu implementáciu testov, ktorá bola využitá pri vývoji vybranej aplikácie.
