The goal of this thesis is to compare compression formats JPEG and JPEG 2000 and to choose the most suitable format for compressing images of the atlas of pathology atlases.muni.cz. Práca sa zaoberá porovnaním formátov kompresie JPEG a JPEG 2000 a významom využitia toho správneho formátu pri kompresii obrázkov z patologického atlasu atlases.muni.cz. Popisuje patologický atlas, formáty JEPG a JPEG 2000 z teoretického hľadiska a tiež popisuje rozdiely obrázkov týchto formátov zistené pomocou matematických metód PSNR a MSE.
