The impact of social engineering and cognitive biases on victims' decision-making

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce s názvem „Vliv sociálního inženýrství a kognitivních zkreslení na rozhodování obětí“ zkoumá, jak sociální inženýrství a kognitivní zkreslení ovlivňují oběti při jejich rozhodování. Práce se věnuje identifikaci klíčových faktorů, které přispívají k úspěšnosti podvodů pomocí sociálního inženýrství, a navrhuje preventivní strategie k ochraně potenciálních obětí. Teoretická část poskytuje přehled o kognitivních zkresleních a metodách sociálního inženýrství, zatímco praktická část hodnotí efektivitu školení kybernetické bezpečnosti na rozpoznání phishingu před a po simulovaném phishingovém útoku. Cílem této práce je nejen analyzovat tyto faktory, ale také posoudit obranné mechanismy a možnosti prevence po komplexním školení zaměřeném na identifikaci phishingu.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis titled "The Impact of Social Engineering and Cognitive Biases on Victims' Decision-Making" explores how social engineering and cognitive biases affect victims during their decision-making processes. The study focuses on identifying key factors that contribute to the success of scams through social engineering and proposes preventive strategies to protect potential victims. The theoretical part provides an overview of cognitive biases and methods of social engineering, while the practical part assesses the effectiveness of cybersecurity training in recognizing phishing before and after a simulated phishing attack. The goal of this thesis is not only to analyze these factors but also to evaluate defensive mechanisms and prevention options following comprehensive training focused on phishing identification.
