Information technologies in free time activities: The Wherigo game

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá herní platformou Wherigo a jejím možným využitím ve výuce žáků ZŠ. První část bakalářské práce je věnována samotné platformě, její charakteristice a historii. Seznamuje teoreticky s principem hry na této platformě a doplňuje popis praktickou ukázkou. Druhá část práce se zaobírá již vytvořenými nebo jen navrhnutými verzemi her s využitím platformy ve výuce. Třetí kapitola se věnuje samotnému projektu autora - návrhu a tvorbě interaktivního Wherigo průvodce městem Frýdlant nad Ostravicí. Hra provází účastníky celkem po 15 místech ve Frýdlantě nad Ostravicí, na kterých se vždy dozví historické informace buď o dané lokalitě, nebo o významném člověku, který je s daným místem spjat. Většina míst je ve hře doplněna historickými fotografiemi, které ukazují jak dané místo vypadalo v nedávné historii. Na některých místech budou muset účastníci průvodce odpovídat na otázky, popřípadě plnit úkoly, na které často musí najít správná řešení přímo v terénu. Závěrečná část práce popisuje implementaci vytvořeného průvodce do reálné výuky a následné vyhodnocení pomocí evaluačního dotazníku.

Abstract:

The present bachelor thesis deals with the Werigo platform and its usage in education of secondary school learners. The first part of the thesis introduces the platform, its characteristics and history. Moreover, it familiarizes readers with the principle of the platform and provides them with a practical sample session. The second part of the thesis focuses on the usege of the plarform in education on drafted and games already existing. The third part concentrates solely on the author's project: Design and creation of the Frýdlant nad Ostravic? Wherigo tour guide. The game will guide participants around 15 sites in Frýdlant nad Ostravicí and will provide participants with either meaningful information related to a particular location, or coment on a significant persona connected with the location. Most of the sites are supplemented by historical photographs that depict how the places looked like in recent history. The guide is also complemented by control questions, or tasks that often require participants to find the right solutions directly on the site. The last chapter describes implementation of the created guide into the actual educational process, which is supported by the evaluation questioners.
