Tato diplomová práce analyzuje dílo Hungry Hearts (Hladová srdce) od Anzie Yerzinské, sbírku povídek zobrazujících osudy a životní peripetie židovských přistěhovalkyň v USA na přelomu 19. a 20. století. První kapitola se zabývá různými přístupy k symbolismu a definicemi symbolu, znaku a alegorie. Druhá kapitola nás seznamuje s důvody a následky židovské imigrace do USA na počátku 20. století. This thesis analyses Anzia Yezierska?s Hungry Hearts, a collection of stories portraying lives and experiences of Jewish immigrant women at the turn of the 19th and 20th century in America. The first chapter is concerned with several approaches to symbolism and definitions of symbol, sign and allegory.
