Karl Georg Merville's statues in the Bratislava City Gallery
Abstract:
The four statues with erotic motifs in Bratislava City Gallery were created in the end of 18th century by Karl Georg Merville, who came from Württemberg to Vienna and then moved to Bratislava. Authorship of these statues was connected to Georg Rafael Donner for many years. Štyri sochy s erotickými motívmi v Galérii mesta Bratislavy vznikli na konci 18. storočia pod rukami Karla Georga Mervilla, ktorý prichádza z Württemburska do Viedne a následne do Bratislavy. Autorstvo sa dlhé roky pripisovalo Georgovi Rafaelovi Donnerovi. Táto práca sa prikláňa k spojeniu sôch s Mervillovou tvorbou a životom v Bratislave a snaží sa objasniť históriu života sôch.
