Population of Řehlovice parish in the second half of the 18th century

Abstract:

Druhá polovina 18. století se vyznačuje mnoha negativními jevy, které ovlivnily vývoj populace. Předmětem zkoumání je řehlovická farnost, lokalita v severozápadních Čechách, ve které se projevovaly jak válečné operace, tak hladomor. Cílem této práce je zmapovat rozsáhlé demografické škody těchto událostí. Práce také se snaží najít pravé příčiny vzniku krize. Kromě tohoto úkolu práce sleduje demografickou strukturu obyvatelstva a proměny matričních zápisů. Práce vychází především z katolické matriky narozených, oddaných a zemřelých z let 1748-1784. Informace jsou doplňovány údaji vycházejícími z farní kroniky a druhotně odbornou literaturou.

Abstract:

The second half of the 18th century is characterised by many negative phenomena that influenced the development of the population. The subject of the investigation is the Parish Rehlovice, a locality in northwestern Bohemia, in which both war operations and famine manifested themselves. The aim of this paper is to map the extensive demographic damage of these events. The paper is also trying to find the true causes of the crisis. In addition to this task, the paper monitors the demographic structure of the population and the transformation of matrimonial records. The work is based primarily on the Catholic registry of births, devotionals and deaths from 1748-1784. The information is supplemented by data based on the parish chronicle and scientific literature.
