Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá prvky ateismu v trilogii Jeho temné esence od Philipa Pullmana. Ačkoli je trilogie označována jako fantasy pro mládež a objevují se v ní také teologické prvky, zahrnuje anti-náboženské elementy a její celkový přístup je popisován jako ateistický. Záměrem této práce je prozkoumat tyto prvky ateismu obsažené v příběhu a určit jejich účel. Za účelem stanovení povahy Pullmanovy kritiky náboženských aspektů se práce také soustředí na rozdíly mezi přístupem Pullmana a církve k náboženství. Na základě reakcí věřících a veřejnosti po publikování knih trilogie Jeho temné esence bude Pullmanův vztah k náboženství, a zejména ke křesťanství, specifikován.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on atheistic ideas in Philip Pullman’s trilogy His Dark Materials. Although the trilogy is labelled as fantasy for young readers and employs theological approach, it contains anti-religious elements and its general attitude is considered atheistic. The aim of the thesis is to explore these elements of atheism in the story and specify their purpose. In order to determine Pullman’s criticism of religious aspects, the thesis also examines the differences between Pullman and the Church’s approach to religion. On the basis of the reactions of religious people and the public after His Dark Materials books were published, Pullman’s attitude to religion, and especially Christianity, will be specified.
