The effect of hippotherapy on the grip function of the hand in children under 8 years of age with disability

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na vliv hipoterapie na úchopovou funkci ruky dětí do 8 let věku s disabilitou. Cílem teoretické části práce je popsat hipoterapii jako rehabilitační metodu, definovat úchopovou funkci ruky a možné problémy, které mohou úchopovou funkci ruky omezit. Cílem praktické části práce je s pomocí standardizovaných testů zjistit, zda má hipoterapie vliv na úchopovou funkci ruky u dětí s disabilitou. Praktická část je zpracována formou kazuistik dvou dětí. K analýze schopností dětí je využita struktura mezinárodní klasifikace funkčních schopností, disability a zdraví Světové zdravotnické organizace. Vstupní a výstupní vyšetření je provedeno pomocí Quality of upper extremity skills testu a pomocí Skóre vizuálního hodnocení funkčního úkolu ruky. Rovněž jsou využity dvě klasifikace - Gross Motor Function Classification System a Manual Ability Classification System. V čase mezi vstupním a výstupním vyšetřením je aplikována hipoterapie. Zjištěné výsledky výzkumu jsou porovnány, graficky zpracovány a shrnuty v diskuzi. Práce by mohla sloužit jako podklad pro hlubší výzkum, který se zaměřuje na vliv hipoterapie na úchopovou funkci ruky.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on the effect of hippotherapy on the grip function of the hand in children under 8 years of age with disability. The aim of the theoretical part is to describe hippotherapy as a rehabilitation method, to define the gripping function of the hand and possible problems which may limit the gripping function of the hand. The aim of the practical part is to use standardized tests to find out whether hippotherapy has an effect on the grip function of the hand in children with disability. The practical part is processed in the form of case studies. The analysis of the abilities of children is based on the structure of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health by the World Health Organization. Entry and exit examinations are executed with the help of the Quality of the Upper Extremity Skills test and the Score of the visual evaluation of the functional task of the hand. In addition, two other classifications are in use - the Gross Motor Function Classification System and the Manual Ability Classification System. The children have also gone through hippotherapy in between the entry and exit examinations. The found results are then compared, graphically processed and summarized in the discussion. The thesis could be used as a basis for deeper research, which focuses on the influence of hippotherapy on the grip function of the hand.
