The problem of human trafficking in Indonesia: activities of EU, USA and Australia as external actors

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá problematikou obchodu s lidmi v Indonésii. Konkrétně se zaměřuje na proti-obchodovací strategie, které jsou v Indonésii uplatňovány ze strany tří zahraničních aktérů – Evropské unie, USA a Austrálie. Práce si klade za cíl popsat povahu jejich aktivity, přičemž bere v potaz geografickou vzdálenost těchto aktérů od Indonésie. V rámci srovnávání je použit koncept strategie „4P“, který zahrnuje prevenci, ochranu obětí, stíhání a partnerství. V první části práce jsou představeny teoretická východiska a obecné charakteristiky fenoménu. Dále jsou popisovány konkrétní aktivity a nástroje, které zmínění tři aktéři v Indonésii aplikují. V závěru je shrnuta celková povaha aktivit jednotlivých aktérů, přičemž je kladen důraz na vzájemné podobnosti a rozdílnosti v jejich strategiích.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with global problem of human trafficking in Indonesia. Specifically it focuses on anti-trafficking strategies of three important actors – Australia, USA and European Union in Indonesia. The aim of this thesis is to describe and compare activities that these three actors apply to combat human trafficking, considering their geographical distance to Indonesia. Comparison is set according to the „4P“ approach – prevention, protection, prosecution and partnership. First it deals with theoretical framework and the nature of the phenomenon. Then it describes concrete tools and activities that Australia, USA and EU do toward Indonesia. At the end it compares the general character of these activities according to the„4P” approach.
