Analysis of the 3D printing technology influence on polymer composite materials selected mechanical properties

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na vývoj nových kompozitních materiálů, využívající klasické filamenty z FDM metody 3D tisku (PETG, ABS, PLA) a resinové polymery (FormLabs Clalsic a Elastic 50A resin). Cílem práce bylo dosáhnout materiálů s vylepšenými vlastnostmi ve srovnání se základními složkami kompozitů. Pro dosažení tohoto cíle byly využity metody jako FDM 3D tisk, injekční vstřikování resinu, vytvrzování ve vytvrzovací komoře a mikroskopické pozorování. Hlavními výsledky práce bylo zjištění mírného zvýšení tažnosti u většiny vzorků díky použití elastického resinu, avšak současně klesla mez pevnosti. Dalším aspektem bylo snížení hmotnosti u většiny kompozitů oproti standardním vzorkům. Navzdory očekáváním však tato práce nedosáhla požadovaného cíle, kterým bylo zachování mechanických vlastností materiálu při redukci hmotnosti, zejména s ohledem na potenciální využití v automobilovém průmyslu. Výsledky této práce nabízejí inspiraci pro další výzkum v oblasti kompozitních materiálů. Bylo prokázáno, že navrhovaná kombinace materiálů není ideální pro průmyslové využití.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the development of new composite materials utilizing conventional filaments from the FDM method of 3D printing (PETG, ABS, PLA) and resin polymers (FormLabs Clalsic and Elastic 50A resin). The aim of the thesis was to achieve materials with improved properties compared to the basic components of the composites. To achieve this goal, methods such as FDM 3D printing, resin injection molding, curing in a curing chamber, and microscopic observation were employed. The main results of the work revealed a slight increase in ductility for most samples due to the use of elastic resin, but at the same time, the tensile strength decreased. Another aspect was the reduction in weight for most composites compared to standard samples. However, despite expectations, this work did not achieve the desired goal of maintaining the mechanical properties of the material while reducing weight, especially considering potential applications in the automotive industry. The results of this work offer inspiration for further research in the field of composite materials. It has been demonstrated that the proposed combination of materials is not ideal for industrial use.
