Statistical Analysis of Unemployment in Cambodia

Abstract:

This Bachelor Thesis studies the factors that influence the unemployment rate in Cambodia, which is one of the lowest unemployment rates in the world. The theoretical section discusses the various types of unemployment and the differences between them. It also explained the reasons for the always existence of the unemployed. The practical section of the thesis focuses on the determinants that have an impact on unemployment rate in Cambodia. The descriptive analysis of these determinants was explored, and development was presented, based on the annual time series database from 2009 to 2020. Furthermore, the study employed multiple regression analysis where the dependent variable is the unemployment rate, and the independent variables are the employment rate of agricultural sector and the presence of Covid-19 pandemic. The results indicated that the employment rate of agricultural sector was statistically insignificant, while the presence of Covid-19 pandemic was statistically significant in relation to the unemployment rate in Cambodia.
