Plant communities of periodically flooded eulittoral of standing and running waters in the Czech Republic

Anotácia:

Cílem práce je (1) shrnutí výsledků vlastního terénního výzkumu vegetace periodicky zaplavovaných stanovišť v České republice v letech 1997-2005 a (2) jejich srovnání s dosud známými poznatky o druzích a rostlinných společenstvech u nás i ve světě. Práce je zaměřena především na vegetaci tříd Isoëto-Nanojuncetea, Bidentetea tripartitae a Isoëto-Littorelletea, s přesahy k jiným typům mokřadní vegetace. Analýza rozšíření u řady druhů a společenstev obnažených den prokázala výraznou vazbu na některou část studovaného území; to je podmíněno klimaticky i typem substrátu. Malá znalost těchto kontrastů někdy vedla k mylné interpretaci absence nebo vzácného výskytu některých druhů v určitých oblastech, což se odrazilo i v klasifikaci ohrožení a návrzích ochranářského managementu. Práce upozorňuje na tyto případy i na další nepřesné informace o druzích obnažených den, např. Coleanthus subtilis, Elatine triandra, E. hexandra a Cyperus fuscus. Prezentuje také nálezy druhu Veronica scardica, považovaného u nás za vyhynulý a znovuobjeveného na jižní Moravě po roce 2000. Nové nálezy vzácných druhů jsou časté na stanovištích, která badatelé navštěvují jen vzácně. Pro druhy obnažených den jsou jedním z nejvýznamnějších stanovišť rybí sádky, kde se uchovaly druhy, které v důsledku změn v hospodaření ustoupily z rybníků. Patří k nim Tillaea aquatica, Cyperus flavescens, Lindernia procumbens atd. Srovnávací analýza vegetace sádek a rybníků prokázala vyšší variabilitu vegetace na sádkách, což se projevuje např. vyšším počtem druhů cévnatých rostlin i mechorostů. Jako nejdůležitější z faktorů ovlivujících tuto variabilitu byl vyhodnocen typ nádrže (sádka nebo rybník),který je určen specifickým využitím a souborem managementových zásahů. Proto lze management považovat za klíčový faktor ovlivující variabilitu vegetace na zkoumaných stanovištích. Převážně na sádkách byly zkoumány i procesy sezonní dynamiky ve vegetaci obnažených den. K charakteristickým rysům patří: 1. pomalé změny v počtu druhů a pokryvnosti pater v časném jaře, 2. rychlé přibývání druhů a zvyšování pokryvnosti porost od přelomu dubna a května, 3. rychlé odumírání mnoha druhů po postřiku porostů herbicidem nebo náhlém zaplavení ve vegetační sezoně a následná regenerace porostů ze semenné banky nebo vegetativních orgánů v půdě. Počty druhů se vlivem různých zásahů mění mnohem méně než jejich pokryvnost. Vývoj vegetace výrazně ovlivňuje i doba a délka vypuštění nádrže. Na dnech sádek ponechaných bez vody po větší část roku se vyskytuje řada vytrvalých druhů. V sádkách vypuštěných jen v létě a na začátku podzimu tyto druhy chybějí nebo mají nízkou pokryvnost. Naopak jsou v nich časté teplomilné jednoleté druhy, které klíčí pozdě a v sádkách vypuštěných od jara jsou omezovány kompeticí vytrvalých a časně klíčících jednoletých druhů. Zvláštním případem je vegetace plůdkových rybníků,pravidelně vypuštěných od časného jara do konce května, kde převažují jednoleté druhy s extrémně krátkým životním cyklem, klíčící již při nízkých teplotách. S použitím formálních definic asociací vytvořených metodou Cocktail byla provedena revize existující klasifikace vegetace tříd Isoëto-Nanojuncetea, Isoëto-Littorelletea a Bidentetea tripartitae v České republice. Tato metoda umožuje statistickou kontrolu klasifikačního procesu a jejím výsledkem jsou široce definované asociace. U třídy Isoëto-Nanojuncetea tak došlo k výrazné redukci původního počtu popsaných asociací, protože řada z nich nebyla floristicky dobře vymezitelná.

Abstract:

The aim of this dissertation thesis is to: (1) summarise the results of field survey of the vegetation in periodically flooded habitats in the Czech Republic during the years 1997-2005, (2) compare the results with the previously published information on wetland species and communities of other similar habitats in the Czech Republic and abroad. The thesis particularly focuses on the vegetation of the classes Isoëto-Nanojuncetea, Bidentetea tripartitae and Isoëto-Littorelletea, with minor overlap to other wetland vegetation types. The distribution of the species and communities on exposed substrates has in many cases a strong relationship to the part of the studied territory, which is caused by differences in climate or substrate. Poor knowledge of these contrasts has led to misinterpretations of absence or rare occurrence of certain species in some of the regions, which was also reflected in the evaluation of the species threat and conservation management design. The thesis calls attention to these cases and also to other incorrect information on the species of exposed pond bottoms, e. g. Coleanthus subtilis, Elatine triandra, E. hexandra and Cyperus fuscus. New finds of the species Veronica scardica, which has been so far considered as missing in the Czech Republic, are presented, too. New finds of rare species were quite common in the habitats that are rarely visited by botanists. Some of the most important habitats for the species of exposed pond bottoms are storage ponds, which are small ponds built for time-limited storage of the marketable fish before their sale. The species, which have become extinct in fishponds due to unfavourable changes of management, have been preserved in storage ponds. These include e. g. Tillaea aquatica, Cyperus flavescens and Lindernia procumbens. The comparative analysis of vegetation of storage ponds and fishponds confirmed higher variability of vegetation in storage ponds, which is reflected in higher number of vascular plants and bryophyte species. Pond type (storage pond or fishpond) was detected to be the most important factor influencing the vegetation variability. Since the pond type is above all determined by specific use and management, the management practices should be considered as a key factor in variability of vegetation on investigated habitats. The processes of seasonal vegetation dynamics of exposed pond bottoms were studied especially in the storage ponds. There are several processes characteristic of this dynamics: 1. slow vegetation changes in early spring, 2. rapid increase of species number and vegetation cover in the end of April/beginning of May, 3. rapid dieback of many species after herbicide spraying or flooding in the vegetation period and subsequent regeneration of the stands from the seed bank or underground vegetative organs. The number of species changes less than the vegetation cover. The succession is also significantly influenced by the timing and duration of the ponds bottom exposure. In the storage ponds, whose bottoms are exposed most of the year, numerous perennials occur. On the contrary, in the storage ponds, whose bottoms are exposed only in summer and beginning of autumn, thermophilous annual herbs with late germination are common. These thermophilous annuals are usually eliminated by competition of perennials and early germinating annuals, if the ponds bottom is exposed in the spring. Special case is the vegetation of fingerling fishponds, which are periodically exposed from early spring until the end of May. In such habitats, annual species with extremely short life cycles and ability to germinate by low temperatures prevail. Using formal definitions of associations produced by Cocktail method, the revision of existing classification of the classes Isoëto-Nanojuncetea, Isoëto-Littorelletea and Bidentetea tripartitae was performed.
