The Film Adaptation of Joanna Bator's Novel Dark, Almost Night

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the comparison of Joanna Bator's novel "Ciemno, prawie noc" with the film adaptation of the same name directed by Borys Lankosz. The theoretical part is focused on the issue of film adaptation itself. It presents various types of adaptations and processes that take place during the creation of an adaptation. The theoretical part focuses mainly on the characteristics of Joanna Bator works, on the issue of adaptation of the novel, and a description of the conversion processes that the creators of the adaptation chose. In my thesis I also deal with differences of impression and understanding between movie and the book.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na srovnání románu „Ciemno, prawie noc“ Joanny Batorové se stejnojmennou filmovou adaptací režiséra Boryse Lankosze. Teoretická část je zaměřena na problematiku filmové adaptace jako takové. Představuje různé druhy adaptací a adaptačních procesů, které během tvorby adaptace probíhají. Teoretická část je zaměřena především na charakteristiku tvorby Joanny Batorové, následně na problematiku adaptace zmíněného románu a popis adaptačních procesů, které tvůrce adaptace zvolili. V práci se také věnuji rozdílnému vyznění knihy a filmu.
