Abstract:

Předložená práce se zabývá vztahy mezi některými velkými kardinálními čísly a vlastnostmi určitých tříd ∞-kategorií. Pozornost je soustředěna na dvě oblasti. První je 1- i 2-nedosažitelnost, kde je ukázána ekvivalence existence takových kardinálů, a toho, že všechny ∞-toposy obsahují dostatečná vnitřní univerza, která jsou uzavřená na určité operace. Vnitřní univerza jsou definována pomocí klasifikujících morfismů a hlavní vlastnost, kterou mají splňovat, je uzavřenost na závislé součiny. V druhé části práce jsou studovány některé verze Vopěnkova principu a jejich důsledky ve světě dosažitelných ∞-kategorií. Vopěnkův princip byl původně formulován pomocí teorie modelů, ale je ekvivalentní tvrzením v teorii množin a v klasické teorii kategorií. Budeme formulovat jeho verze ve vyšších kategoriích a ukážeme, že jsou ekvivalentní původním. Navíc, existence lokalizací nebo kolokalizací, které byly známy pro prezentovatelné kategorie, jsou dokázány pro prezentovatelné ∞-kategorie. Zároveň jsou rozvinuty různé potřebné nástroje, zejména existence generických morfismů v 1-toposech, některé vlastnosti polomodelových kategorií a univerzální vkládání dosažitelných ∞-kategorií. Tato práce je založená na mých dvou článcích Dependent products and 1-inaccessible universes a Vopěnka's principle in ∞-categories, které jsou uvedeny mezi odkazy.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the interplay between some notions of large cardinals and the behaviour of certain classes of ∞-categories. In particular, two different such notions are investigated. One is that of 1- and 2-inaccessibility, and a parallel is drawn between the assumption that such cardinals exist and the fact that all ∞-toposes have enough internal universes closed under certain operations. Here, the notion of internal universe is appropriately given in terms of classifying maps, and the key property that they need to satisfy is the closure under dependent products, which encode in themselves the properties of inaccessibility. The main result of this first part is therefore the equivalence between the two mentioned assumptions. The second line of investigation is concerned with various versions of Vopěnka’s principle and their consequences in the world of accessible ∞-categories. These principles were originally formulated in terms of model theory, but they can be viewed as set-theoretic and category-theoretic statements. Higher categorical versions are here formulated and shown to be equivalent to the original ones. Furthermore, the existence of enough localizations or colocalizations, which has been known for presentable categories, can also be proven for presentable ∞-categories. Various tools that are needed in the main body of the text are developed: namely, the existence of generic morphisms in 1-toposes, several properties of semi-model categories, and a universal embedding of accessible ∞-categories. This work is based on my two articles Dependent products and 1-inaccessible universes and Vopěnka’s principle in ∞-categories, both of which can be found among the references.
